DesiCouplesZ uses automated systems to decide which members, groups, events and activity to show you, and in what order. This page describes, in plain terms, the main factors involved and the choices you have. It is a general description and not a complete or fixed specification. It can change at any time without notice.
1. Where recommendations appear
- Discover and Search: the order in which member profiles are listed.
- Suggested sections such as New Faces, Active Now, shared interests, shared language or heritage, and nearby members.
- Wall (activity feed): community activity such as new members, connections, groups and plans.
- Notifications and emails: which updates are worth telling you about.
2. The main factors
When ordering profiles for you, our systems generally weigh a combination of the following. No single factor decides the order, and the weight of each can differ by section and change over time.
- Compatibility: overlap between what you and another member each said you are looking for, shared interests, languages and heritage, and experience level.
- Your stated preferences: the filters and preferences you set.
- Distance: members near the place you signed up with are generally shown first.
- Recent activity: members who have been active recently generally appear ahead of those who have not.
- Verification: verified members generally receive a ranking boost.
- Safety signals: members who are blocked or whose conduct has been the subject of upheld reports may be shown less, or not at all.
- Account type: in some default views, account type is used to order otherwise similar profiles.
Profiles you have blocked, members who have blocked you, hidden profiles and members suspended or removed are not recommended to you.
3. What recommendations are not
A recommendation or a high position is not an endorsement, a safety check, a prediction of compatibility or a statement that a member is suitable, truthful or trustworthy. A compatibility score is an automated estimate from the information members have chosen to provide, and it can be wrong. Position and visibility are not guaranteed, and DCZ may change who is shown, to whom and in what order at any time, including to protect members, to prevent abuse or to improve the service.
4. Your choices
- Use filters, and the sort-by-distance option, to change what you see.
- Hide your profile, limit who can contact you, or block members, in Settings.
- Keep your profile accurate and up to date: the quality of recommendations depends on it.
- Manage notification and email preferences in Settings.
- Ask for an explanation of how your profile has been ranked, or object to automated ranking, by writing to privacy@desicouplesz.app. We respond within 30 days, as required by GDPR/UK GDPR. See Section 7 of our Privacy Policy.
5. Manipulation
Attempting to manipulate recommendations, for example with fake activity, fake accounts, automated tools or misleading profile information, breaches our Community Guidelines and can lead to reduced visibility or removal of the account.
Legal Terms Applying to this Recommender Guidelines
Relationship to the Terms of Service
This Recommender Guidelines is part of, and incorporated by reference into, the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. Capitalised terms not defined here, including “DCZ Parties”, have the meaning given in the Terms of Service. If this Recommender Guidelines and the Terms of Service conflict, the Terms of Service control, except that where a statute requires a specific process for a specific kind of notice, that statutory process governs that notice. Operator of the Platform: DCZ Media Holdings LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company.
No duty, no warranty
DCZ is an interactive computer service that hosts content created and shared by its members. To the fullest extent permitted by law, including 47 U.S.C. § 230 and equivalent intermediary-liability protections in other jurisdictions, DCZ is not the publisher or speaker of member content and does not adopt it. Nothing in this Recommender Guidelines creates a duty of care, a duty to monitor, a duty to remove, or a duty to act on any particular timetable towards any member, any person depicted in content, any reporter or any other third party, beyond the duties that a statute imposes on DCZ and that cannot be excluded. Descriptions of what DCZ does, tries to do or aims to do describe good-faith practices that may change at any time; they are not guarantees, warranties or promises of any result, and no person is entitled to rely on them as such. Our systems and our team can and will make mistakes, miss content and act late.
Good-faith action is protected
DCZ may, in its sole discretion and without notice, remove or restrict any content, decline to remove any content, limit, suspend or end any account, preserve and disclose records to the extent the law allows or requires, and report matters to authorities. Action taken, or not taken, in good faith is protected to the fullest extent of 47 U.S.C. § 230(c) and every other protection the law provides, and no member acquires any claim against the DCZ Parties because of it.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the DCZ Parties are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, reputational harm or emotional distress, arising from or related to this Recommender Guidelines, any report or request made under it, any action or inaction by DCZ under it, or any content or conduct of any member or other third party. The aggregate liability limits, the sole-remedy clause and the exclusions in § 12 of the Terms of Service apply in full to every claim concerning this Recommender Guidelines.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the DCZ Parties from and against every claim, demand, investigation, proceeding, loss, liability, damage, penalty, fine, cost and expense (including reasonable legal fees, expert fees and the cost of responding to a regulator, court order or law-enforcement request) arising out of or connected with: (a) content you post, send or upload; (b) your conduct on or off the Platform; (c) any report, notice, request or counter-notice you submit, including any that is inaccurate, misleading, malicious, made in bad faith or made without the authority you claim; (d) your breach of this Recommender Guidelines, the Terms of Service or any law; and (e) any claim by a person depicted in, or affected by, your content or conduct. This indemnity applies even where the claim alleges that a DCZ Party was negligent, to the fullest extent the law allows, but not to the extent a court of competent jurisdiction finally determines the loss was caused by that DCZ Party's own fraud or wilful misconduct. DCZ controls the defence and settlement of any claim it chooses to defend, and you will cooperate. This obligation survives the end of your account. If you are a consumer, it applies only to the extent the law of your country permits.
Release
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release the DCZ Parties from all claims, known or unknown, arising from the content, conduct or communications of other members and third parties, and from DCZ's good-faith decisions under this Recommender Guidelines. If you are a California resident you waive California Civil Code § 1542 and any equivalent law of another jurisdiction, to the extent the waiver is permitted.
Disputes
The governing law, the individual-arbitration and class-action waiver and the venue provisions in § 16 of the Terms of Service apply to every dispute concerning this Recommender Guidelines. Any claim must be brought within one (1) year after it arises, or it is permanently barred, to the extent the law permits a shorter period.
General
This Recommender Guidelinesconfers no rights on any third party, and no person is a third-party beneficiary of it. If any part is held unenforceable, that part is limited to the minimum extent needed and the rest remains in force. DCZ's failure to enforce any part is not a waiver. DCZ may update this Recommender Guidelines at any time by posting the revised version with a new date; continued use after the date means you accept it. This page explains our practices in general terms and is not legal advice and does not create an attorney-client relationship. Nothing here limits any right you have under a law that cannot be waived.
