Indian couples — at home and across the diaspora

Indian couples make up the largest part of this community, and “Indian” covers so much ground that it is nearly useless as a description on its own. A Telugu couple in Hyderabad, a Gujarati couple in Leicester and a Punjabi couple in Brampton share a passport-level identity and very little else about how they navigate this.
Inside India
The established scenes are Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune, with Chennai and Kolkata quieter and more private. Goa functions as a destination rather than a resident community — most activity there is couples travelling from the metros.
Private gatherings are far more common than venues. There is no real club circuit of the kind that exists in Europe, and anything advertising itself as one should be treated with suspicion.
Legally: private consensual conduct between adults is not an offence, and adultery was decriminalised by the Supreme Court in Joseph Shine v Union of India (2018). Language is the real dividing line
Most Indian members care more about language than nationality. Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Punjabi, Marathi, Malayalam, Gujarati, Bengali and Kannada communities each have their own texture, their own diaspora corridors and their own jokes.
This is also the most practical filter. A Telugu couple in Hyderabad and one in Dallas will find each other easier company than either would find a Delhi couple, despite the distance.
The diaspora corridors
The Gulf holds the largest Indian expatriate population — Dubai especially, with strong Malayalam and Telugu representation. Discretion norms are strictest here.
The UK has the oldest established community: Gujarati in Leicester, Punjabi across the West Midlands, and everything in London.
Canada is dominated by the Punjabi community in the GTA and Surrey.
The US is more dispersed — Telugu and Gujarati concentrations in Texas, technology-industry communities in the Bay Area and Seattle, and the most mixed community in New York and New Jersey.
Australia is growing quickly across Sydney's western suburbs and Melbourne's south-east.
What differs abroad
Openness increases, but discretion does not decrease. Diaspora communities are dense and interconnected — Leicester and Brampton in particular are small enough that people are recognised — so faces stay private for the same reasons they do in Mumbai.
What does change is access. Organised events exist in the UK, Canada and Australia in a way they largely do not in India, and couples abroad tend to reach the meeting stage faster.
