Hindi is the broadest category on this platform and, precisely because of that, the least precise. It covers Delhi NCR, most of north and central India, and a large share of the diaspora — which means members often filter by city or by region as well as by language.
Delhi NCR and the north
Delhi NCR — Delhi, Gurugram and Noida — is the largest Hindi-speaking scene and the second largest in India overall. Private gatherings predominate; there is no venue circuit.
Lucknow, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Indore and Nagpur hold smaller communities, generally connected to Delhi and often travelling there for anything organised.
Mumbai and Pune have large Hindi-speaking populations alongside their Marathi communities, and members frequently sit in both.
The breadth problem
Because "Hindi-speaking" describes such a large and varied group, it carries less specific cultural information than Telugu or Malayalam does. Members often add a second filter — city, region, or heritage — to find people who actually share their context.
It remains the most useful single filter for the north Indian diaspora, where language is the reliable common thread across otherwise unrelated communities.
The diaspora
Canada — the Greater Toronto Area especially — holds a large Hindi-speaking population alongside its bigger Punjabi one.
The US is spread widely, with concentrations in New Jersey, Chicago and Texas.
The UK has Hindi speakers throughout, generally overlapping with Punjabi and Gujarati communities rather than forming a separate one.
The Gulf — Dubai above all — has a large and comparatively active Hindi-speaking expatriate community.
What members say about it
The most common observation is that Hindi is the language people fall back into when a conversation becomes genuinely comfortable, whatever it started in. Several members describe that switch as the moment a connection stops being an exchange and starts being a conversation.
The second is that Hindi-speaking members abroad often use the filter to find people who share the humour and the reference points, rather than for any practical need — most speak English perfectly well.
